Terroir & Vines
The estate is named after the steep cliff made of quartzite which dominates the vineyard, near the village of Causses-et-Veyran. The vines are planted on Ordovician schist hillsides, with a South / South-East exposure. Selection of the oldest plots of Carignan (more than 40 year old) pruned in “gobelet style”. A blend dominates by Syrah (35%) and Grenache (35%) and completed with Carignan (30%).
Vinification & Ageing
Hand-picking. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature (25°C). Long maceration of the Syrah (20 days). 12 months of ageing in French oak barrels 500 L for the Carignan and a selection of Syrah.
Deep and intense black colour. Black fruits and spicy notes with roasted aromas. Powerful yet elegant attack marqued by greedy notes of black fruits. Long finish on the palate.
